Jennifer Eagan Joins WCVB Channel 5 as a General Assignment Reporter (2024)

Boston, MA – September 20, 2018 - Jennifer Eagan will join WCVB Channel 5, Boston's News Leader, as a general assignment reporter beginning Monday, October 22, it was announced today by Bill Fine, WCVB President and General Manager. A Wrentham native, Eagan has been a reporter in New England for more than a decade. “Like so many at WCVB, Jennifer grew up, was educated, and established her distinguished career here in Massachusetts,” said Fine when making the announcement. “Jennifer’s outstanding reporting skills coupled with her local knowledge of the region, our newsmakers, and the stories that are important to the community, make her an ideal addition to Channel 5’s exceptional news team.” “Jennifer is a talented journalist and excellent storyteller with a track record for expertly reporting on stories and issues that make a difference to viewers,” said Paige Harrison, WCVB News Director. “We’re proud to welcome her to the NewsCenter 5 family.” "I am thrilled to join the NewsCenter 5 team,” said Eagan. “I have always admired the range and quality of work produced by WCVB as well as their in-depth look at issues in our area. Eagan joins WCVB from WHDH where she was a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for more than five years. Before that, Eagan worked at New England Cable News where she was a reporter and fill-in anchor. Eagan has covered many locally and nationally significant stories throughout her career including the return of James “Whitey” Bulger to Boston after his arrest, a story that captured the first video of the renowned mob boss in decades. Eagan has earned two Emmy Award nominations, first for her coverage of the arrest of a hospital worker in New Hampshire who was accused of infecting patients with Hepatitis C and second for a feature story on Honor Flight New England. Eagan received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and is a graduate of Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro.
